Welcoming our first collaborator to The Yorkshire Collective: Sheffield based illustrator and ceramicist Sian Ellis.

Sian is from Blackpool originally but has lived in Leeds for five years and in her current hometown of Sheffield for four years, soon to be celebrating a decade in Yorkshire.

“Sheffield has such a vibrant community of artists who are very supportive of each other which makes it a great place to create. Good food, good art, good pubs and the peaks on our doorstep makes it a pretty great place to live.”

The city of York, Fountains Abbey, and Yorkshire Sculpture Park are listed as a few of her favourite places in Yorkshire.

Sian’s ceramics are heavily influenced by her illustrations and are often tangible representations of her drawings. Although she has no formal arts education, she has been drawing and making things for as long as she can remember. A loving shove in the right direction from friends and family who thought her drawings shouldn’t be kept secret any longer inspired her to begin illustrating in 2017.

Sian offers commissions and also sells items including prints, pots, patches and badges. Her work has been sold internationally, and custom pieces include event posters, a welcome sign on a farm, and even painting a giant fibreglass wallaby sculpture for a public art trail on the Isle of Man.

We are super pleased to be working with Sian on new products, and hope that you enjoy her cute, quirky and bold style. Check out her collection here.
